Modular Construction Large Projects Netherlands
The Netherlands is working towards a sustainable, green society. That means climate-neutral by 2050 and already in 2030 55% less CO2 emissions than in 1990. This transition from fossil fuels to electricity and hydrogen from wind and sun is in full swing.

So we too are looking for smart and efficient solutions. And I am pleased that we are moving towards a standard with the modular construction of our 380kV substations and transmission lines. All over the Netherlands, high-voltage substations and high-voltage pylons are designed and built on the basis of standard modules. That will help us. Help us tender our huge work package, help us design, produce faster, build, manage and maintain. Not only that, as contradictory as it may sound, it's also going to help in discussions with local residents and landowners. At the same time, this asks something... not only of ourselves as an organisation, it also asks something of the market players and the environment. This demands something from all of us.

Moving the energy transition forward, we do it together. Together. So that the light stays on. Now, and in the future!

TenneT is making an important contribution to making the Netherlands more sustainable. Many of us will increasingly feel the urgency... Because our electricity grid is coming under more and more pressure. The increasing, rapid pace at which additional transmission capacity is being demanded from our grid is outstripping the speed at which TenneT and the regional grid operators can expand the electricity grid.

Work on the grid is in full swing in all regions. Unfortunately, the billions of investments and additional measures are not enough. A new connection or reinforcement for a company or home is no longer a matter of course. And must count on a considerable delay. The Netherlands is entering the next phase, where, as mentioned, access to the electricity grid will come under further pressure. Without drastic measures, housing construction, economic growth and making the Netherlands more sustainable will slow down. That means we have to do even more.
